IR4U2
Information Retrieval for Understudied Users
Information Retrieval (IR) remains an active, fast-paced area of research, but progress has largely benefited "conventional" users—mainly adults from the Global North.
The 2nd Workshop on Information Retrieval for Under studied Users (IR4U2) serves as a platform to highlight research and industry efforts focused on diverse, often overlooked user groups, In this second edition, we emphasize a user-centered AI approach to better design, develop, and evaluate IR systems that ensure true accessibility and inclusivity.
Our goals are to 1) Foster a multidisciplinary community of PhD students, academics, and industry experts advancing AI-driven IR for diverse users; 2) Assess existing research, ongoing efforts, and resources while reflecting on progress since the last IR4U2, 3) Establish guidelines for user-centric IR system design, & 4) Develop a framework to support research that directly serves these user groups.
